The On-Premises version of LabStats supports encrypting the ConnectionSettings.config file (located at C:ProgramDataLabstats). The encryption tool is not included in the On-Premises installer, but it can be downloaded here: On-Premises Encryption Tool.
- To begin, run the tool as an administrator. If prompted to allow the tool to make changes, click Yes.
- The tool will run.
- When it’s finished running, the file will be encrypted.
- To decrypt the file, just run the tool again and enter the current database password.
- The tool will then decrypt the file.
If attempting to update to newer versions of LabStats, the file will need to be decrypted before proceeding to update.
